6th ART ACTION FESTIVAL

International Performance Art Festival 2008

'The Walls in Three Places'

13 May - 13 June 2008 (Private View 12th May 6pm)
The Charlton Art Centre, Upper Floor of the Charlton Shopping Centre, High St, Dover Kent.
'Walls in Three Places' is the first in a series of project collaborations with artists, curators and other specialists. The exhibition will be mainly wall-based drawings; however the concept of drawing is flexible. The Exhibition will be jointly curated by Paris-based artist Peter Fillingham and Artists' Fulcrum member Peter Hofer. Over 150 established artists have been selected by Peter Fillingham and Rachael Daniels (Creative Director of White Nave) and invited to take part in the exhibition alongside members of White Nave's Artists' Fulcrum.

The Exhibition will be launched in Paris on May Day alongside the official launch of the London Biennale. This will be done through White Nave's Artist Fulcrum members who will be staging performance-based works in the creative centres of Paris that will involve one-to-one introductions of both their work and the new Charlton Art Centre, forming an invitation to the physical exhibition 'The Walls in Three Places' in Dover that opens on 12 May and closes on 13 June 2008. Thereafter the exhibition will be toured to a further venue in London during the Biennale season which closes on 31st August 2008 on the beach in Brighton.

Dear Artists,

Welcome to a space where the rules of society can rest in peace for a while, and we can celebrate the power of image and femininity outside of conventions
www.BritishWomenArtists.com

Here women visual artists of any nationality who work in Britain are invited to publish and discuss their art work. Men that would wish to consider themselves feminine are also welcome.

Our aim is to create a platform for a dialogue powerful and empowering, we believe as one move of a butterfly wing can change the world so can an eyelash change the composition of atmosphere - universe.

We will celebrate this occasion annually by initiating a collective women artist's exhibition. The next exhibition that will represent artists who actively participate on the website will take place in London in 2009.

The contents of the site (but not external links) will be archived regularly. This is to ensure that "scholarly, cultural and scientific resources" will not be lost to future generations. If you wish to contribute to this website but to be excluded from the archived version this site is probably not for you.

We look forward to your contributions this is your web site its up to you to make it happen!

'Et Cetera' gallery is situated on 1a Darnley Road and has the honour of bearing host to10 budding artists from the loins of Central Saint Martins' second year.
Thursday 5th May will mark some of the first tentative steps of these fledgling artists into the quagmire of the contemporary arts scene.
The evening promises to be a lively demonstration of bravura, offering a purge to the insipid monotony of your usual gallerific offering. Displaying an amalgamation of monolithic egos and fraying tempers that will attempt to straddle and control the fault lines between all the four 'Ds' of media. Covered in our own foetal matter we shall await the firm slap on the rear from the obligated palm of our artistic physician, leaving the first impression on our yet untarnished livery. And we shall scream forth that this is the era of 'Excitement Factor 5000.

We would be honoured to be listed on the London Biennale website

Marisol and I went with our niece Alba, to watch the Sevillanas on Regent Street, to be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the entry for most people dancing Sevillanas simultaneously. About 400 registered dancers made sure that the record was confirmed.
And guess who we found taking part - none other than our Argentinian Artist friend Marisa Rueda.
Here is the Youtube video which I have posted.

Visions in the Nunnery
The six works selected for Works on Water all explore different aspects of the liquid element. It appears as medium of change and symbol of permanence, as metaphor for thought and madness, but also quite literally as means of transport and artistic tool. In all the films, water is intricately connected to the pleasure (or the burden) of existence.
Several of the films in the show are drawn from the BoSs archive.
