La Biennale di Londra è stata fondata nel 1998 dall’artista David Medalla, che è stato in grado di riunire comunità di artisti residenti vicino Londra e di coinvolgerli negli eventi della biennale.
Con l’adesione e partecipazione di oltre trecento artisti, la London Biennale ha creato eventi internazionali come nel 2003 a Berlino Changing Channels e come quello che si sta preparando per il 2008.

David Medalla con Soto è tra gli artisti che dagli anni ’60 ha contribuito a connotare l’arte cinetica, a movimentare la galleria Signals di Londra facendo invitare artisti che dovevano lavorare in assoluta libertà e creando ambienti, poetica che ha connotato in Italia il Gruppo T.
Amico di Duchamp, Manzoni, Yves Klien, Takis, Oiticica, Medalla ha conservato lo spirito indipendente dalle politiche e dalle strategie del mercato, per rimanere all’interno di un’autenticità artistica.
Il rapporto con la storia dell’arte svela rinnovate possibilità percettive e occasioni continue di grandi fermenti.
Il progetto della London Biennale 2008 è realizzato per la prima volta in Italia con l’importante coinvolgimento artistico di gallerie, associazioni, istituzioni, musei.
L’edizione della London Biennale 2008 è accolta in spazi aperti dagli artisti per realizzare mostre, performances ed incontri sulle espressività culturali multimediali. Gli artisti: Raffaella Losapio, Emilio & Franca Morandi, Angelo Riviello, Vincenzo Ceccato, Donatella & Mariangela hanno dato alla spazialità della loro poetica un aspetto concreto, interattivo e di mobilità, come il Gruppo Sinestetico, divenendo il riferimento per alcune realtà culturali.
Un nuovo fremito di futurismo tecnologico ed umano attraversa l’Italia tracciando una linea in cui si trascrive l’impegno degli artisti coinvolti.
Questa Biennale ha un segnale importante nell’incontro che David Medalla avrà con gli studenti dell’Accademia di Belle arti di Firenze della cattedra di Storia dell’Arte del Biennio e Triennio di Vittoria Biasi, del Biennio Specialistico in Arti Visive e Discipline dello Spettacolo, Indirizzo in Arti Multimediali di Andrea Granchi e di quanti vorranno partecipare con le proprie proposte.

Domenica, 18 Maggio – ore 20: nell’ambito del progetto POLLINATION Italy London Biennale 2008.
“XX.9.12 FABRIKArte inaugura il 3° step del work in progress “MORPHING” ad opera degli artisti Valentina Meli e Tilen Zbona (l’intero progetto è a cura di XX.9.12 FABRIKArte – Donatella Meropiali e Maria Angela Brion).
Nello spazio espositivo si sviluppano immagini e oggetti in una performance live: ingrandimenti fotografici di frammenti di video, video painting, oggetti trasparenti su cui saranno proiettate le immagini direzionate anche dallo spettatore. In quell’occasione verrà esposta la termo-scultura “ SNOWWHITE”, realizzata per l’evento con la partnership della ditta Antrax, su disegno degli artisti; la termo-scultura interagirà con la mostra, offrendosi come supporto per le video-proiezioni.

The London biennale was founded in 1998 by the artist David Medalla. He was able to gather communities of artists residing near London and to involve them in the events of the biennale.
With the support and participation of over three hundred artists, the London biennale has created international events such as in 2003 the Changing Channels event in Berlin and like the one that it is preparing for 2008.

With Soto, David Medalla is one of the artists who from the ‘60s has contributed to connote kinetic art, to animate the Signals gallery in London by inviting artists who had to work in full freedom and creating environments, this poetics has connoted the Group T in Italy.
Friend of Duchamp, Manzoni, Yves Klien, Takis, Oiticica, Medalla has preserved the spirit independent from policies and strategies of market, to remain inside an artistic authenticity.
The relation with the history of art reveals renewed perceptive possibilities and constant opportunities of great flurries.
The London biennale project 2008 is carried out for the fist time in Italy with the important artistic involvement of galleries, associations, institutions and museums.
The edition of the London Biennale 2008 is held in open spaces by the artists to realize exhibitions, performances and meetings on cultural multimedia expressiveness. The artists: Raffaella Losapio, Emilio & Franca Morandi, Angelo Riviello, Vincenzo Ceccato, Donatella & Mariangela have given to the spatiality of their poetics a concrete, interactive and mutable aspect such as the Gruppo Sinestetico, becoming the reference for some cultural realities.
A new thrill of technological and human futurism goes through the Italy drawing a line in which the dedication of the artists involved is transcribed.
This Biennale has an important signal in the meeting that David Medalla is going to have with the students of the Academy of Art in Florence of the chair of History of Art two-year course and three years of Vittoria Biasi, of Multimedia Arts-oriented the Specialized two-year course in Visual Arts and Performing Arts Disciplines of Andrea Granchi and of those who will want to participate with their own proposals.

“XX.9.12 FABRIKArte opens the 3rd step of the work in progress “MORPHING” thanks to artists Valentina Meli and Tilen Zbona (the entire project is by XX.9.12 FABRIKArte – Donatella Meropiali and Maria Angela Brion).
In the exhibition space, images and objects develop in a live performance: photographic enlargements of fragments of video, video painting, images conducted by the audience too over transparent objects. In that circumstance the thermo-sculpture “ SNOWWHITE” will be exhibited, it has been realized for the event with the partnership of the company Antrax, based on drawing of the artists; the thermo-sculpture will interact with the exhibition, arising like support for the video-projections.
